Welcome to the Ashburton Community Centre Inc. (ABN 55622841337)

The Ashburton Community Centre is a not for profit Community organisation which offers educational, recreational and social support opportunities to all members of the community. The Centre is a self-funded organisation, supported by a grant from the City of Boroondara, and is one of 10 community centres and neighbourhood houses located in Boroondara.
The Centre was officially opened in 1986 and is managed by a voluntary committee of management comprised of local residents and interested people.

Our office is open 10.00am – 4.00pm Monday to Friday, but our programs run from 9am-9.30pm on most days.

    • Supporting people’s aspirations, interests and hobbies
  • • Providing affordable and inclusive courses, projects and groups

HOW TO GET HERE

The Centre is well serviced by public transport.

Driver Bus Lines bus route no 734 stops at the front door.

The Ashburton train station is a short walk from the Centre.

PARKING

There are several local carparks in close proximity to the Centre (one in Highgate Grove) and the others behind the High Street Ashburton shopping strip. Please observe parking restrictions.
Unrestricted parking is available in Munro Avenue.

The Ashburton Community Centre is located at 160 High Street, Ashburton. Victoria (on the corner of Highgate Grove), right next door to the Ashburton Library and in the heart of the Ashburton shopping strip.

The Centre is a completely refurbished 1930’s era house, comprising of rooms of various sizes, kitchen facilities, an office and toilet facilities, and is suitable for use by those with disabilities.

Wheelchair

The Centre runs classes in art, craft, yoga and gentle exercise, languages, history and culture, furniture restoration and childrens’ classes just to name a few.

It is also an ideal venue for meetings, adult education and social contact. The Centre is responsive to community needs and provides a warm and friendly social atmosphere.

All of our tutors are skilled in their particular area of expertise, and most have been teaching in their field for many years.
The Centre is always on the look-out for new and interesting courses, and any person with a special skill and the desire to pass on their knowledge is most welcome to call in and discuss their involvement at the Centre.

The Ashburton Community Centre is also the home to a wide variety of special interest groups where those with a specific interest can meet together on a regular basis. These groups cater for spinners, patchworkers, embroiderers, bridge and mah jong players, book groups, walkers….to name a few.

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP of the Centre is required by all Centre users. Membership is $5.50 (adult) and $3.00 (children) GST inclusive and is valid until 31 December in the year of enrolment.

ENROLMENT INFORMATION

Bookings may be made in person, by phone or by mail and must be accompanied by full fees.
Payment can be made by Eftpos, cheques or cash. Credit card payments can also be accepted over the phone (Visa or Mastercard only). Any enrolments which are not paid for within 3 working days of booking will automatically lapse.

COURSES MAY BE CANCELLED if there are insufficient bookings to make the class viable, in which case the course fee will be refunded.

REFUNDS OR TRANSFERS CANNOT BE MADE AFTER A COURSE HAS COMMENCED. Withdrawal from a course within 7 days prior to the commencement of the course will be subject to a $15 cancellation fee.

 

As the Centre is a not for profit organization, fees are set to achieve a break-even level. Your fees are used by the Centre to pay tutor fees and staff salaries, general administration, publicity, photocopying, postage, coordination of the Centre.
