Preview Week 2: Online Classes and Activities on Zoom

Before we launch into our Term 2 program of online classes and activities, join us during the break to try out the Zoom platform, connect with our tutors, staff and other members of the Centre. Here’s our timetable of free sessions for next week and the links to join. Please click on the link 5 to 10 minutes prior to the class start time and follow the prompts to open zoom and join. These sessions are open to all members, so take a look.  Members, please contact our Centre for the link and password to join the class

Monday April 13
no classes, public holiday

Tuesday April 14
9.30am Yoga with Laura (60 min)
Get your yoga mat ready and join Laura as she presents an all-levels class designed to get you moving in new ways and connecting with your breath. The class will promote subtle practices of mindfulness and stress reduction.

11am Tech Help Online –  An Introduction to Zoom (60 min)
Perfect for members just getting started with Zoom. Grab a cuppa and join our digital mentor to experiment with Zoom and have fun seeing each other online. This is a chance to try out the platform, ask questions and play with the features in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Wednesday April 15
10am Ageless Grace (30 min)
Keep your brain stronger for longer with this gentle chair-based exercise class for body and mind. Ageless Grace is based on 7 years of medical research into how to slow down the ageing process of your brain and body in your senior years. It is an uplifting holistic program for wellbeing which is beneficial for stress and anxiety relief, memory retention, co- ordination, balance and promotes creativity. Our tutor Jane Creasey will be presenting this ‘express’ version of her class – everyone welcome.

11am Tech Help Online – Learn about Zoom on your Phone or Tablet
This session is for members who will be accessing Zoom on their phone or tablet. Grab a cuppa and join our digital mentor to experiment with Zoom and have fun seeing each other online. This is a chance to try out the platform, ask questions and play with the features in a relaxed and supportive environment.

2pm Yoga and Pilates with Karyn (45 min) and
2.45pm Meditation with Karyn (15 min)
Join Karyn and see how easy it can be to incorporate some exercise into your stay-at-home routine. You are welcome to join for the entire session, or join just before 2.45pm if you’d like to do the meditation section only.

Thursday April 16

This session is for members who are using Zoom on their laptop or desktop computer. Grab a cuppa and join our digital mentor to experiment with Zoom and have fun seeing each other online. This is a chance to try out the platform, ask questions and play with the features in a relaxed and supportive environment.

2pm Chat with the Ashburton Community Centre (60 min)
Have a chat to Rachel (Manager) and Tash (Marketing) on Zoom. Let us know – how are you enjoying the online offerings so far? Do you have any new class ideas? What are you doing to keep yourself busy during lock down? Let us know.

Friday April 17
9.30am Yoga and Pilates with Karyn (45 min) and
10.15am Meditation with Karyn (15 min)
Join Karyn and see how easy it can be to incorporate some exercise into your stay-at-home routine. You are welcome to join for the entire session, or join just before 10.15am if you’d like to do the meditation section only.

10.30am Meet with Jenny Biggin (60 min)
Meet with Jenny Biggin, one of our dynamic exercise tutors, for a chat and possibly even a bit of movement to get your day started!

11am Tech Help Online – An Introduction to WhatsApp (60 min)
Join our digital mentors in this relaxed session on WhatsApp. We use WhatsApp here at the Centre to communicate with our classes and groups (and for them to interact independently) and it’s a great way for you to connect not only with other members or your class or Connect group, but with friends and family too. Download our WhatsApp Fact Sheet.
