As the weather cools and we make our way towards Winter, it’s the perfect time to get active and to ‘warm up as it cools down’. Here at the Ashburton Community Centre we are introducing Wellness Week with a range of new programs, free classes and special offers across our wellbeing and movement classes and groups. We are also launching our early bird movement classes during this week. It’s the perfect opportunity to try something new, encourage a friend to join you, and discover the class that’s right for you!

New Early Bird Morning Classes – FREE during Wellness Week! 

Based on your feedback we are introducing a range of early bird classes at our Centre to be held in the beautiful Copland Room. There are free trials of all of these classes during Wellness Week so now is your chance to explore beginning the day with some great movement options.

  • GO4LIFE Exercise Classes: By Renewed After 50, this class is a great for working on your strength and general fitness – Monday and Thursday at 7.30am
  • Pilates and Stretching: A class of gentle yoga stretches with the core-strengthening and postural movements of Pilates – Wednesday 7.30am.
  • Tai Chi: Start your morning with this gentle, yet stimulating form of exercise Tuesday and Friday at 8am.

NEW! Meditation Group monthly sessions

Join Tahmina Choudhury, a certified meditation instructor from Shanta Studio, to experience the benefits of Pranayama mediation in a monthly meditation session.

Pranayama is breathing exercises which clears the physical and emotional obstacles in our bodies to free the breath and so the flow of ‘prana’ – life energy. Regular practice has numerous emotional and physical benefits. More information can be found here.
